*In an intimate setting with just a few press people, EUR joined co-stars Brandon Michael Hall (Miles Finer) and Javicia Leslie (Ali Finer) from “God Friended Me” for a baking class in New York. Inspired by the show’s second season’s trip to Paris, France, we received lessons on how to make macaroons.
The class, led by Chef Pauline, took place at the Mille-feuille Bakery Café, a family-owned business with three locations throughout New York. After the class, we could sample our own baking. There was also French cuisine and Champagne to wash it down.
Asked to speak on the evening’s bake in, the two were in agreement that it was a whole lot of fun. “It’s nice to do something outside of being on set all day,” Hall said. “To do something creative and put your art into a different perspective is always welcomed,” he added.
“It’s fun and a different outlet,” Leslie explained. “I’m not a baker, I’m a cooker. When you’re cooking, you can kind of make mistakes here and there and figure out how to fix it. But baking is a precise science. If you don’t spin it right, it’s just over.”
Miles, the Millennium Prophet, has some difficult challenges this season. Although an atheist, it does not sit well with him when the God account on Facebook is taken away from him. His lesbian sister Ali has some struggles of her own. She is leaving their dad’s Harlem church and Rev. Arthur Finer (Joe Morton) is disappointed that he hears it from another minister.
